Zabi Aydan's First Beach Getaway

Few weeks back, we went for a short beach getaway. Initially we die die wanted to go to Cherating but as usual all hotels in Cherating were fully booked. Long weekend, school holidays blah blah blah... what do you expect? So, since I've been insisting on a beach getaway, Mr. Tubby booked a room at the Hyatt Regency, Teluk Chempedak, Kuantan... Can lah for a 1 night stay only... Not too far from Cherating also what...

Moving on to the reviews... so, check in time was 2.00 pm, we arrived at the hotel at 2.20 pm, and to our dismay we were told that our room wasn't ready, because hotel was jam packed full house, previous guest checked out late, lame excuses were given as usual. So we waited... and waited... and waited... for more than 2 hours to be exact because we finally got our room at 5.30 pm! The hotel staff told us that they will upgrade our room to the Club Suite due to the inconvenience that they've caused us. But you know when we were finally brought to our room, suddenly the staff said, "Maaflah encik, club suite room not ready lah. Saya bagi bilik superior sebab pada pendapat saya bilik ni lagi baru dan elok, lagipun dekat dengan swimming pool. Better view as compared to the club suite." (FYI, our room was facing the valet parking and the club suite rooms were all facing the beach). And I thought, "You sneaky lying ______!!! Do we look dumb to you?"  But hey I was too exhausted to care. So I just kept that to myself. Plus, we didn't wanna dampen our mood.

Poor thing Zabi Aydan he was already too tired to play and we couldn't bring him to the pool or beach on the first day because he fell asleep immediately after I put him on the bed. Same with Mr. Tubby. That's 1 whole day wasted... just like that! And the room, OMG, still the same like it was 10 years ago. I didn't like it that the room has a mildewy smell, the sliding doors to the balcony could not be shut properly, the ceilings and bathtub were mouldy... totally not Hyatt standard! But like I said, we were just too tired and pissed to complain. 

The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is the private beach, quite like it because it's CLEAN, to my standard at least. I mean, crappy room and bad hospitality aside, the whole point of this trip is that we wanted to give Zabi Aydan his first beach experience. So, nevermind lah. But we definitely won't be staying here again if we're ever in Kuantan.
